This particular opportunity is for a highly motivated and customer-focused Banquet Server to join the Sonesta team. The role primarily involves serving meals to patrons during banquet and catering functions, ensuring that guests receive prompt and attentive service in accordance with Sonesta’s high standards. Banquet Servers play a vital part in upholding the company's reputation for exceptional hospitality, as they prepare function rooms for events, set tables with proper place settings, serve beverages, and attend to diners' needs with professionalism and efficiency.

In this role, the Banquet Server is expected to always adhere to the "Stay Safe with Sonesta" safety guidelines, reinforcing the company's commitment to maintaining a safe and sanitary environment for both guests and staff. The responsibilities include garnishing and decorating dishes before serving, suggesting desserts and after-dinner drinks to enhance the dining experience, and actively observing guests to respond to any additional requests. Clearing and resetting tables promptly after each course and adhering strictly to Sonesta Service Standards and Safety and Sanitation Standards are critical components of the position.

The position may require shifts during nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the dynamic and often fast-paced nature of the hospitality industry. Employees are expected to maintain uniform and grooming standards that align with the professional image of Sonesta International Hotels. Beyond basic duties, the Banquet Server will also support management by undertaking other duties or projects as requested, embodying the spirit of teamwork and adaptability.

A key element of this role is delivering passionate and engaging service to every guest, recognizing and anticipating unique guest needs to exceed their expectations consistently. The Banquet Server will implement Sonesta’s GUEST model: greeting each guest warmly, using attentive eye and ear contact and guests' names, anticipating and solving needs or complaints, and expressing gratitude. This model ensures every guest feels valued and welcomed, reinforcing Sonesta’s reputation as a leader in the hospitality sector.

The role offers an hourly pay range of $9.39 to $11.39, with base pay dependent on the applicant’s knowledge, skills, and relevant experience. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Prepare function room for banquet function
  • set tables and place settings
  • serve drink of choice to guests
  • garnish and decorate dishes prior to serving
  • observe diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed
  • suggest desserts, beverages and after dinner drinks
  • ladle soup, toss salads, portion pies and desserts, brew coffee and perform other services as needed
  • clear and reset tables at conclusion of each course
  • adhere to Sonesta Service Standards
  • adhere to all Sonesta Safety and Sanitation Standards
  • deliver passionate and engaging service to guests
  • perform other duties or projects as requested by management
