Operating worldwide, Sodexo promotes an inclusive workplace culture focused on respect, fairness, and belonging, where employees can thrive by being their authentic selves and contributing their unique ideas and perspectives. Their core values emphasize community, sustainability, equal opportunity, and continuous professional development.

The Banquet Server position at Sodexo, located at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, is an on-call part-time role offering a pay range of $19.75 to $21 per hour. This role is designed for individuals who can work afternoon and evening shifts on varying days, including some weekends and holidays, with further scheduling information provided during the interview process. The Banquet Server is responsible for providing efficient, attentive, and friendly service by delivering freshly made menu items such as entrees, appetizers, desserts, and beverages. This position demands a professional demeanor, excellent communication skills, and a thorough knowledge of the menu to recommend options creatively and accurately answer questions regarding ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods.

Essential duties involve greeting and seating guests, presenting menus, and introducing specials or updates to the menu. Physical stamina is important, as the role requires significant walking or mobility throughout shifts that may exceed eight hours. The position also demands the ability to reach, bend, stoop, lift weights up to 50 pounds occasionally, and perform repetitive motions, all requiring good manual dexterity, sensory acuity, and stamina.

Candidates for this role should have at least a high school diploma or GED, with zero to one year of related experience preferred. Depending on the location, applicants may need to meet age requirements to serve alcohol and possess valid certifications such as TIPS or TEAM to comply with state alcohol-service regulations. Sodexo emphasizes attendance, punctuality, and a responsible work ethic as key factors for success in this role.

Employees benefit from a flexible and supportive work environment, ongoing training opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package that may include paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, vision, tuition reimbursement, 401k plans, and various discount programs. Some locations also provide additional perks like free shift meals, uniform support, safety equipment, and transportation assistance. Sodexo’s mission and values foster a culture where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered to grow their careers while making a meaningful contribution to their communities.
