Job Description
Sodexo is a global leader in food services and facilities management, dedicated to improving the quality of life for customers and employees through comprehensive integrated solutions. With a strong presence worldwide, Sodexo partners with a diverse range of clients including corporations, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and convention centers to deliver exceptional catering and facility management services. The company prides itself on creating memorable experiences for clients while fostering an inclusive, respectful workplace where every employee is valued for their unique contributions. Sodexo's commitment to community, diversity, and sustainability underscores its operations and shapes the culture throughout its locations.
Currently, Sodexo is seeking a Banquet Server for the Raleigh Convention Center, a vibrant venue that hosts a variety of events including meetings, receptions, luncheons, dinners, and special functions. This full-time position offers a pay range between $14.00 and $18.00 per hour, reflecting the skill and dedication required for this role. The Banquet Server plays a crucial role in supporting event operations and providing food and beverage service that enhances the guest experience.
As a Banquet Server, you will be responsible for delivering professional and timely service throughout events, working closely under the direction of the Banquet Captain and Banquet Supervisor. Your duties will range from assisting with event setup, executing service during events, to breakdown afterwards. The service styles vary from casual buffets to formal plated meals and passed services, requiring adaptability and attention to detail. Your role is pivotal in maintaining cleanliness and organization of service areas, ensuring tables are reset efficiently, and food presentation standards are upheld. This position demands physical stamina as it involves frequently lifting and moving items weighing up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Punctuality and reliability are essential traits, as is the flexibility to work varying shifts with open availability preferred.
Sodexo values the development of its employees and the Banquet Server position includes opportunities for ongoing training and career advancement. Candidates are expected to have a high school diploma or equivalent, with prior experience in banquet, catering, food service, or hospitality preferred. In addition, meeting local regulatory requirements for alcohol service certifications such as TIPS or TEAM is necessary, along with potential food handler certification depending on state or local rules.
At Sodexo, employees enjoy a supportive work environment, flexible scheduling options, and a comprehensive benefits package that covers paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, vision care, tuition reimbursement, 401k, employee discounts, and more. Some sites even offer perks such as free meals during shifts, uniforms, safety shoes, and transportation or parking support. Sodexo is dedicated to fostering a culture of inclusion and equal opportunity, ensuring that everyone is treated fairly and can be themselves while contributing to a team focused on excellence and positive guest experiences.
