Job Description

The Salvation Army Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division, particularly through its Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (commonly known as the Kroc Center Hawaii), is a vital part of a globally recognized organization committed to spiritual, emotional, and physical regeneration of individuals. The Salvation Army functions as an evangelical branch of the universal Christian Church, carrying a mission deeply rooted in the teachings of the Bible and motivated by the love of God. It is a nonprofit organization that operates numerous community centers and programs dedicated to meeting human needs without discrimination, seeking to uplift and serve the community holistically. The Kroc Center Hawaii is envisioned as a dynamic and flourishing hub where diverse community members are welcomed, inspired, and positively transformed through the love and teachings of Christ.

The Banquet Server role at the Kroc Center Hawaii is a key position within the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, under the supervision of the Sales and Events Manager. This on-call hourly position pays $14.00 per hour and involves providing exceptional banquet and food and beverage service for various events held at the center. The primary responsibility of the Banquet Server is to ensure that every guest experiences a celebration that surpasses their expectations, aligning with the organization's commitment to excellent customer service and hospitality. The role involves tasks from setting up banquet spaces and serving food and beverages to clearing tables and assisting in clean-ups. This position requires a dedication to the mission of The Salvation Army, showing through professionalism and community representation.

Banquet Servers must hold a strong customer service orientation, effectively communicate and coordinate with event organizers, team members, and guests, and adhere closely to event specifics as outlined in Banquet Event Orders (BEOs). They must also maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation, ensuring that food and beverages are served at proper temperatures and displays. The job entails physical activities like carrying trays of food, setting tables, and post-event cleaning, demanding stamina and attention to safety protocols. Importantly, the role is situated within an environment that values diversity, teamwork, and ethical conduct, requiring the Banquet Server to conform to the organization's policies and mission statement while contributing positively to the workplace culture and guest satisfaction. Because the Kroc Center serves a wide variety of community events, employees in this role must be flexible with working evenings, weekends, and holidays, and must maintain a high standard of professionalism and preparation at all times. This role not only supports the operational success of events but also embodies the values and vision of the Salvation Army to uplift and serve the local community of Hawaii in a meaningful way.
