Sodexo is a global leader in quality of life services, known for its commitment to improving the everyday experiences of clients and employees alike. Operating in diverse sectors including food service, facilities management, and catering, Sodexo partners with many prestigious organizations worldwide to deliver exceptional service and innovative solutions. With a strong presence at venues like the Virginia Beach Convention Center, Sodexo is dedicated to providing exemplary service in dynamic and high-profile settings. The company's culture is centered on fairness, respect, and inclusion, ensuring every employee feels valued and has the opportunity to thrive in a supportive environment. Sodexo's mission is to improve the quality of life for those they serve while contributing positively to the communities where they operate through economic, social, and environmental initiatives.

The role of a Banquet Server at Sodexo offers a rewarding part-time employment opportunity at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, recognized for hosting a wide array of significant events, from corporate meetings to grand receptions and special ceremonies. This position pays $17 per hour and requires flexible availability across varying shifts to meet the scheduling demands of an active convention center. As a Banquet Server, you will play a crucial role in ensuring guests enjoy seamless food and beverage service during catered events. You will be responsible for a variety of service styles including casual buffets, formal plated meals, and passed service, adapting your approach based on the specific event's style and size.

Under the guidance of the Banquet Captain and Banquet Supervisor, you will actively engage in event setup, service execution, and post-event breakdown. The role demands an attentive and professional demeanor to provide timely service that enhances the overall guest experience. Responsibilities encompass maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout events, efficiently clearing tables, resetting place settings, and assisting with maintaining the aesthetic standards of the banquet room. The job also requires physical stamina, including the ability to frequently lift and move items weighing up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Punctuality and consistent attendance are essential for success in this position.

Sodexo supports its employees' professional growth by offering ongoing training and development opportunities, encouraging advancement from part-time roles into full career pathways. Additionally, Sodexo provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, a 401k plan, discount programs, and more. Some locations may offer additional perks such as free or subsidized meals during shifts, uniforms, safety shoes, transportation assistance, and parking conveniences.

Sodexo fosters an inclusive workplace that embraces culture and belonging as core pillars. The company is committed to equal employment opportunities for all individuals regardless of race, gender, age, disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics. Employees are respected and encouraged to be themselves and contribute their ideas and opinions to the team.
