The Banquet Server position at Sodexo, located at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center, is an on-call part-time role with a pay rate of $16.90 per hour. This position offers varying shifts with open availability preferred, providing flexibility for candidates. As a Banquet Server, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional food and beverage services to guests attending a variety of catered events such as meetings, receptions, luncheons, dinners, and special functions. The service styles you will support range from casual buffets to formal plated meals and passed services, requiring adaptability and professionalism.

In this role, you will work under the guidance of the Banquet Captain and Banquet Supervisor, actively participating in setup, service execution, and breakdown of events. Your responsibilities will include maintaining the cleanliness and organization of tables, service stations, and work areas, as well as assisting with clearing tables and resetting place settings to maintain presentation standards. Physical stamina is essential, as the job often requires lifting and moving items up to 35 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Additionally, punctuality and dependable attendance are critical to ensure smooth event operations.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous banquet, catering, food service, or hospitality experience preferred
  • Must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol based on local and state laws
  • Must have valid TIPS, TEAM, or equivalent alcohol-service certification
  • Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work varying shifts including days and evenings
  • Open availability preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Previous banquet, catering, food service, or hospitality experience preferred
  • Must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol based on local and state regulations
  • Must maintain a valid TIPS, TEAM, or equivalent alcohol-service certification
  • Comply with all state-specific alcohol training requirements
  • Food handler certification may be required based on state or local regulations

Job Duties

  • Provide food and beverage services to guests attending catered events including meetings, receptions, luncheons, dinners, and special functions
  • Support various service styles from casual buffets to formal plated meals and passed service
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of tables, service stations, and work areas during events
  • Clear tables, reset place settings, and assist with maintaining presentation standards
  • Frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Participate in event setup, service execution, and breakdown under the direction of Banquet Captain and Supervisor
