The company partners with a wide range of clients, offering services that enhance experiences for both customers and employees. By fostering an environment that values respect, fairness, and individual contributions, Sodexo creates a supportive workplace where employees can thrive and make meaningful impacts.
The role of Banquet Server at the Virginia Beach Convention Center with Sodexo is a part-time position offering a pay rate of $17 per hour. This role is essential in delivering exceptional food and beverage services during catered events such as meetings, receptions, luncheons, dinners, and special functions. The work involves supporting various service styles, from casual buffet setups to formal plated meals and passed service, contributing directly to positive guest experiences. Banquet Servers operate under the guidance of Banquet Captains and Supervisors, actively participating in all phases of event execution, including setup, service, and breakdown.
Working as a Banquet Server requires attentiveness, professionalism, and flexibility as shifts and working hours vary, with open availability preferred. The position entails maintaining cleanliness and organization of tables and service areas, clearing and resetting tables, and adhering to presentation standards. Additionally, servers must be physically capable of frequently lifting and moving items up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Punctuality and reliability are crucial, as well as the willingness to undertake other duties as required by different accounts or client needs.
Sodexo values employees who bring a combination of relevant experience and certifications. While previous banquet, catering, food service, or hospitality experience is preferred, Sodexo also requires compliance with local and state alcohol service regulations, including possession of valid certifications such as TIPS or TEAM. Depending on location, food handler certification may also be necessary. Sodexo offers a flexible and supportive work environment aimed at balancing life’s important moments with career development. Employees have access to ongoing training, advancement opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package that supports overall wellbeing, including paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, 401k, discount programs, and more.
Sodexo’s commitment to equality and workplace inclusion ensures that all employees feel valued and respected, regardless of their background or circumstances. This role is a wonderful opportunity for those wishing to join a company that not only prioritizes service excellence but also fosters a culture of belonging and growth. Candidates are encouraged to inquire about any questions related to benefits or duties during the interview process, reflecting Sodexo’s transparent and supportive approach to employment.
