Job Description

The Salvation Army Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division, specifically the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (Kroc Center Hawaii), is a vital part of The Salvation Army's mission to serve the community through spiritual, emotional, and physical regeneration. The Salvation Army operates as a branch of the Christian Church with a deep commitment to evangelism, motivated by the love of God and driven by the goal to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs without discrimination. Kroc Center Hawaii serves as a dynamic and flourishing community gathering place where people from diverse backgrounds are welcomed, inspired, and transformed through the love of Christ. This center integrates various community-focused services and events with a strong emphasis on hospitality and service excellence.

The Banquet Server position at the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center plays a critical role in ensuring that all banquet functions are executed with professionalism and a focus on guest satisfaction. This hourly, on-call role offers a competitive pay rate of $14.00 per hour and reports directly to the Sales and Events Manager. The Banquet Server is responsible for providing exemplary food and beverage service, which includes setup, service, clearing, and clean-up of banquet events. The role demands a dedicated and service-oriented individual capable of maintaining the center’s high standards while embodying the values and mission of The Salvation Army. This position requires working in a predominantly English-speaking environment, often during evenings, weekends, and holidays. Additionally, the role involves direct interaction with event organizers, team members, and guests to ensure seamless service delivery.

The ideal candidate will possess prior experience in banquet or restaurant service, and a strong customer service ethic. Responsibilities extend beyond serving food and beverages to include setting up event spaces, managing inventory and supplies, adhering to safety and cleanliness standards, and upholding professional grooming and uniform policies. The ability to carry heavy trays, work in fast-paced environments, and maintain composure under pressure is essential. Mentally, the candidate must demonstrate clear communication skills, strong organizational capabilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively. The work environment is primarily indoors across various facilities within the Kroc Center, with possible attendance at trainings and conferences locally and on the mainland.

The Salvation Army is committed to equal opportunity employment and considers applicants with diverse backgrounds. Candidates must pass a criminal history information check and provide a TB certificate as part of the hiring process. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a meaningful mission while engaging with the local community in a role that values service, professionalism, and personal growth.
