The Banquet Server position at Sodexo's New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center offers a part-time opportunity that pays $18 per hour and works varying shifts with open availability preferred. This role is integral to the successful execution of catered events such as meetings, receptions, luncheons, dinners, and special functions. As a Banquet Server, the incumbent is responsible for providing exceptional food and beverage services that range from casual buffet setups to formal plated meals and passed hors d'oeuvres. The job requires close coordination with the Banquet Captain and Supervisor and involves active participation in event setup, service delivery, and breakdown processes.
The ideal candidate will ensure each guest receives attentive, professional, and timely service, which significantly impacts the overall guest experience. The role demands physical stamina including the ability to frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Punctual attendance and reliability are key aspects, along with maintaining cleanliness and merchandising standards for tables, service stations, and work areas during events. Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
- Previous banquet, catering, food service, or hospitality experience preferred
- Must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol based on local and state regulations
- Must maintain valid TIPS, TEAM, or equivalent alcohol-service certification
- Must comply with all state-specific alcohol training requirements
- Food handler certification may be required based on state or local regulations
- Ability to work varying shifts with open availability preferred
- Ability to frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous banquet or catering experience preferred
- Hospitality or food service experience advantageous
- Ability to handle guest interactions professionally
- Certification in alcohol service such as TIPS or TEAM
- Knowledge of food handling standards
Job Duties
- Provide food and beverage services during catered events
