We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Banquet Cook to join our culinary team at Flying Horse Resort and Club. This role is essential to the successful execution of food preparation and service for parties, banquets, and other special events hosted by the resort. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards, maintaining strict compliance with food health and safety regulations, and providing excellent guest and member interactions at action stations. This position demands a versatile culinary skill set, including knowledge of a variety of cooking techniques and a keen eye for detail to ensure that all food items meet our rigorous quality standards.

In addition to cooking duties, the Banquet Cook must effectively organize and prepare ingredients per Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), manage banquet equipment with cleanliness and safety in mind, and support inventory control to maintain sufficient product levels. Communication between kitchen staff and front-of-house personnel is crucial to ensure the smooth flow of service and the highest level of guest satisfaction. The candidate should be capable of working under time constraints, be willing to learn new equipment and methods, and contribute positively to the team culture by mentoring peers as needed. Physical ability to lift and carry heavy items, typically up to 50 pounds, is required.

Job Requirements

  • Must have an eye for detail when presenting buffets, platters, and platted
  • Artistic abilities are encouraged
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Must be willing to learn new equipment and new ways of executing banquets
  • Follow cleaning schedules and lists for your section and other sections as directed
  • Support in maintaining a sufficient inventory of all products needed
  • Professional communication between BOH and FOH staff about functions
  • May be expected to work according to the company overtime policies

Job Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of commercial kitchen experience is preferred
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Accurate and possess good organizational abilities
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of point of sale operations is preferred
  • Must possess customer service skills
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Competency in dealing with members and fellow employees with tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to work effectively under time deadlines

Job Duties

  • Comply with the conditions of the Food Health and Safety regulations and sanitation policies
  • Be able to effectively and efficiently prepare and organize ingredients per BEO
  • Ensure that all products meet a specific quality standard
  • Cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards in a timely manner
  • Must be diverse in your culinary cooking techniques
  • Handle member and guest request as a priority
  • Follow proper food handling, holding, re-heating and cooling procedures
