The Banquet Porter plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of banquet events by managing the set-up, breakdown, maintenance, and cleanliness of meeting and venue spaces in accordance with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs). This role is vital to supporting various departments such as sales, catering, and event management, by guaranteeing that all specifications outlined for events are meticulously carried out. The Banquet Porter will be responsible for a variety of physical tasks, including arranging furniture and equipment, handling linens, and maintaining storerooms. This role demands strong organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to maintain a positive attitude under pressure during busy event schedules.

The Banquet Porter works cohesively with team members to create an exceptional meeting or event experience for guests and attendees, emphasizing attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols. Job Requirements

  • current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
  • high school or equivalent education required
  • be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English
  • food service handler card that is currently valid for a minimum of at least 6 months
  • preferred 1-2 years' experience in a full-service restaurant or lounge
  • ability to work a flexible schedule

Job Duties

  • arrive for shift on time and in proper uniform
  • receive duties/responsibilities as described in pre-shift
  • review BEOs and master sheets with the banquet set-up manager and/or banquet lead porter
  • have clear knowledge of all set-ups including hollow square, banquet rounds, conference, and theater style
  • move and store all furniture and equipment needed for setting up and tearing down banquet functions
  • accurately perform all set-up needs in meeting and venue locations
  • set rooms with banquet furniture including tables, chairs, food stations, bars, banquet props, staging, podiums, and dance floors
