Job Description
The Orange County Convention Center, a premier venue known for hosting large-scale conventions, banquets, and catered events, is seeking a dedicated Banquet Porter to join their dynamic team. As a part of the Orange County Convention Center, employees contribute to a high-profile establishment that prides itself on world-class service and exceptional event experiences. The Convention Center is a hub of hospitality excellence, and its partnership with Sodexo ensures top-tier food service and facilities management. Sodexo, a global leader in quality of life services, offers employees not only a job but a chance to be part of something greater—with a strong culture rooted in purpose, respect, and inclusion.
This well-regarded on-call part-time position offers a competitive pay rate of $18.50 per hour and requires flexibility with workdays and shifts, spanning various times throughout the week. The Banquet Porter role is critical in ensuring the smooth execution of banquet and catered events, acting as the primary service lead on the floor. Responsibilities include coordinating service execution, directing Banquet Servers and other Porters, and maintaining strong communication between culinary and service teams. This role actively participates in all event phases—setup, service, and breakdown—while prioritizing guest satisfaction and adherence to established banquet event orders (BEOs), timelines, and service standards.
The Banquet Porter is essential in upholding food safety and alcohol service policies and often assists in training new banquet service staff. Physical demands include frequent lifting and moving of items weighing up to 35 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. A successful candidate must demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and professional service. This role typically varies based on event size, service style, and business needs, offering a dynamic work environment that values adaptability and excellent teamwork.
Being part of Sodexo means access to numerous benefits and growth opportunities, including ongoing training, career advancement prospects, and comprehensive health and wellness coverage. Additional site-specific perks may include shift meals, uniforms, safety shoes, transportation support, and more, enhancing the overall employment experience. Sodexo also fosters a supportive work culture where every employee is valued and encouraged to bring their authentic selves to the workplace. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core to Sodexo's mission, ensuring a welcoming environment regardless of background or identity.
Joining the Orange County Convention Center and Sodexo team as a Banquet Porter positions you within an organization committed to improving everyday life for employees, clients, and guests. If you have experience in banquet or food service, an eye for detail, and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences, this role offers a rewarding opportunity to grow your career in hospitality with a trusted leader.
