The Banquet Porter role at Sodexo, based at the Orange County Convention Center, is a vital part-time on-call position requiring flexibility and open availability. This role offers a competitive pay rate of $18.50 per hour. As a Banquet Porter, you provide crucial on-floor leadership during banquet and catered events by coordinating service execution and guiding banquet servers and fellow porters. You serve as the primary service lead on assigned events, responsible for ensuring all service aspects comply with Banquet Event Orders, schedules, and company standards. The position involves active participation in event setup, service delivery, and equipment breakdown, emphasizing guest satisfaction and effective communication.

Working closely with banquet supervisors, the culinary team, and service staff, the Banquet Porter ensures smooth and professional event execution tailored to the event size and service style. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of banquet, catering, or food and beverage service experience
  • Prior lead or captain experience in a banquet or event environment preferred
  • Must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol based on local and state regulations
  • Must maintain a valid TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures), TEAM (Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management), or equivalent alcohol-service certification
  • Comply with all state-specific alcohol training requirements
  • A food handler certification may also be required based on state or local regulations

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), and alcohol service policies
  • Assist with training and onboarding of banquet service staff as directed
  • Ability to frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Actively participate in event setup, service, and breakdown
  • Coordinate and direct banquet servers and banquet porters during events
  • Work closely with banquet supervisor, culinary team, and service staff to ensure smooth event execution
