The role of Banquet Porter at Sodexo, located at Descanso Gardens, offers a part-time employment opportunity with a pay rate of $21.00 per hour. This position is critical in the successful execution of banquet and catered events by providing direct, on-floor leadership and facilitating the coordination of event service. As a Banquet Porter at Sodexo, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of banquet services in alignment with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), ensuring that all timelines, guest satisfaction, and service standards are met. This hands-on role involves supervising other banquet servers and porters, actively participating in event setup, service execution, and teardown.

The Banquet Porter plays a vital role in guaranteeing smooth and professional event delivery by collaborating closely with the Banquet Supervisor, culinary team, and service staff. This includes ensuring compliance with food safety, sanitation standards, and alcohol service policies, which are vital for maintaining health and safety regulations. The position demands strong communication skills, diligence in adhering to timelines, and a keen eye for detail in high-pressure event environments. Ideal candidates bring a background in banquet, catering, or food and beverage service, with 1 to 3 years of relevant experience preferred. Prior experience as a lead or captain in banquet or event settings is advantageous. The role demands physical stamina, including the ability to frequently lift and move items weighing up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds, highlighting the active nature of the work environment. Candidates must also meet local age requirements for alcohol service and hold necessary certifications such as TIPS, TEAM, or an equivalent Alcohol Service certification. Food handler certification requirements may also apply depending on state or local regulations.
