The Waldorf Astoria New York stands as an enduring icon of luxury and sophistication, having recently undergone a transformative restoration that revitalizes its historic charm while embracing modern elegance. This iconic landmark hotel seamlessly blends its rich, authentic legacy with contemporary expressions of design and service, making it a premier destination in New York City. With 375 lavish rooms plus 375 residences, 40,000 square feet of versatile event space, holistic spa and wellness programs, and partnerships with celebrity chefs, the Waldorf Astoria offers guests an unmatched experience of refined indulgence and personalized attention. Situated in the heart of New York, it reflects the city's vibrant culture and dynamic spirit through every aspect of its operation and guest experience, truly embodying the essence of luxury hospitality.
As the Waldorf Astoria New York embarks on this exciting new chapter, it is seeking a Banquet Manager to spearhead the banquet operations during this era of renewal and excellence. This key leadership role involves overseeing the day-to-day execution of all banquet functions, ensuring that every event is flawlessly planned and executed to the highest standards. Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Banquets and the Director of Banquets, the Banquet Manager is responsible for creating unforgettable experiences across a broad spectrum of events such as breakfasts, coffee breaks, luncheons, dinners, cocktail receptions, and galas within the hotel's extensive event spaces.
In this role, the Banquet Manager not only manages the operational aspects of setting up function rooms—ensuring linens, silverware, glassware, and chinaware meet the exacting specifications and quality standards—but also collaborates closely with various hotel departments like Food and Beverage, Event Services, Property Operations, Audio Visual, and Housekeeping to guarantee seamless communication and coordination. The position requires leadership and people management skills to inspire and develop a high-performing team, fostering a positive work environment, and coaching team members to excel in delivering True Waldorf Service.
Maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness is a critical part of this role, ensuring the wellbeing of guests and team members alike. The ideal candidate is an exceptional leader with a passion for hospitality and a proven track record in banquet management within upscale dining environments. Experience working within the New York market and managing unionized teams is preferred, reflecting the sophisticated and complex nature of the Waldorf Astoria’s operations.
