Located in Oklahoma City, OCCC offers a broad range of academic programs and community-oriented services. Among its various departments, the Dining Services department plays a significant role in enhancing the campus experience through excellent food services and event catering. OCCC Dining Services is committed to delivering exceptional service through its team of dedicated professionals who manage dining facilities, catering operations, and special events across campus venues such as the Visual and Performing Arts Center and the Capitol Hill Center. This department works closely with students, staff, faculty, and community partners to organize and manage catered events that meet high standards of hospitality and customer satisfaction. The Banquet Manager position at Oklahoma City Community College is a pivotal role within the Dining Services department. This is a full-time position focused on event management, service oversight, and fostering strong customer relations to ensure the success of all catered events held at OCCC facilities. The Banquet Manager reports directly to the General Manager and leads a team that includes catering and dining service workers as well as temporary and student catering employees. The ideal candidate will have an Associate's Degree in hospitality or a related field, complemented by at least two years of experience in event management and catering. Equivalency is accepted in the form of a minimum of four years of relevant experience in place of the degree. This role demands comprehensive knowledge of event planning practices, catering operations, and food and beverage service excellence. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software is essential, along with proven skills in event setup, banquet service, and creative event design to deliver high-quality catering experiences that build and sustain customer loyalty. The Banquet Manager will be responsible for developing creative, client-focused catered events, managing event logistics including transportation and setup, and maintaining strong relationships within the community to grow catering opportunities. The role requires excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities as well as the flexibility to work evenings and weekends, adapting to the needs of various events. Physically, the position involves medium work requiring lifting, carrying, and moving objects regularly, as well as standing for extended periods and operating office and service-related equipment. The role is suited for a self-motivated, results-oriented individual with a passion for hospitality and event management. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree and five or more years of experience in event management and catering within a higher education setting. Regular quarterly compliance training is required as part of the institutional standards for all staff. The work schedule typically encompasses a 40-hour work week, though hours may vary based on business demand and event schedules. This position offers a dynamic work environment where the Banquet Manager plays a crucial role in elevating the overall dining and event experience at OCCC. Candidates applying for this position are required to submit a complete online application, cover letter, resume, and transcripts confirming educational credentials. Those who fail to provide all required documents will not be considered. For assistance with applications, OCCC’s Human Resources is available during business hours to provide support.
