We are currently seeking a full-time Banquet Manager to join our dynamic team at The Westin Pittsburgh. This management role offers a competitive pay range of $25.77 to $31.25 per hour, with bonus eligibility, reflecting the importance and impact of this position within our operation. The Banquet Manager will play a pivotal role in directing and motivating the banquet team to deliver high-quality service consistent with our established standards and guest expectations. This position involves overseeing financial and administrative responsibilities, including asset protection, and ensuring effective communication among all stakeholders involved in event success. The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED and bring a minimum of two years of experience in event management, food and beverage, or a related professional field.

Key responsibilities of the Banquet Manager include managing banquet operations, such as forecasting supply needs, adhering to legal standards, and maintaining sanitation and equipment. The manager will also be instrumental in scheduling staff to meet service standards while maximizing profitability. Leadership skills are essential, as the role requires setting goals, delegating tasks, conducting team meetings, and fostering a cooperative relationship between banquet and kitchen staff to enhance service delivery. Additionally, the Banquet Manager will lead by example in providing exceptional customer service, interacting with guests for feedback, handling complaints, and empowering employees to meet and exceed service expectations. Job Duties

  • Project supply needs for the department including tables, chairs, banquet tables, meeting sets, props
  • Apply knowledge of all laws related to events
  • Manage banquet operations to maximize customer satisfaction
  • Adhere to and enforce standards, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain established sanitation levels
  • Manage departmental inventories and maintain equipment
  • Schedule Event Services staff to meet forecast and service standards while maximizing profits
  • Assist team in developing lasting relationships with groups to retain business and promote growth
  • Set goals and delegate tasks to improve departmental performance
  • Conduct monthly department meetings with the Banquet team
  • Apply and broaden knowledge of food and wine pairings and current event trends
  • Act as a liaison to the kitchen staff
  • Lead shifts and actively participate in servicing events
  • Set a positive example for guest relations
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service
  • Respond to and handle guest complaints
  • Empower employees to provide excellent customer service
  • Verify employees understand expectations and parameters
  • Strive to improve service performance
  • Emphasize guest satisfaction and continuous improvement during meetings
  • Review comment cards and satisfaction results with employees
  • Communicate and execute departmental and property emergency procedures and verify staff training
  • Observe service behaviors and provide feedback
  • Monitor progress and lead staff discussions
  • Participate in corrective action plans
  • Review Meeting Planner Survey results and implement improvements
  • Attend and participate in all pertinent meetings
