The Banquet Server position at Marcus Hotels and Resorts plays a critical role in the seamless execution of food and beverage experiences during events and banquets. This role is essential in setting up banquet rooms, ensuring that tables are prepared with china, silverware, and other relevant service equipment according to detailed Event Orders. Banquet Servers are responsible for maintaining the high standards established by both Marcus Hotels and Resorts and Marriott International by providing attentive and courteous service to guests. The position requires flexibility to work varying shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, showcasing dependability in a fast-paced, 24-hour operational environment.

As part of the banquet team, the Banquet Server prepares specialized stations such as coffee and bread stations before functions, serves food and beverages in accordance with Marriott and company standards, and promptly responds to guest requests or escalates concerns to management when necessary. Attention to detail is vital for ensuring cleanliness and readiness of banquet rooms, public spaces, and storage areas. Inventory monitoring to maintain supplies and adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety standards are fundamental to the role.

The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, a professional demeanor, and the ability to engage with guests positively and proactively. While hospitality or customer service experience is preferred, it is not mandatory, as training and certification including Lancaster County Food Handler and Responsible Beverage Service Training will be provided. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • No experience required
  • Prior hospitality or customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to respond quickly and accurately to guest requests
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks quickly and efficiently
  • Knowledge of appropriate table settings and proper set-up preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active Lancaster County Food Handler and Responsible Beverage Service Training Certification as well as any additional training or certification requirements per Marcus Hotels Resorts, Marriott and Lancaster County
  • Dependable and reliable to meet the demands of a 24 hour operation with flexibility to work a varied schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, holidays and the ability to work under pressure
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively deal with guest and employee concerns in a friendly and positive manner
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills to include the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English Language
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and or carry up to 30 lbs
  • Ability to stand and move throughout continuously to perform essential job functions
  • Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations
  • Must be able to represent the company in a professional, well-groomed and courteous manner

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Set up tables with china, silverware, and other service equipment in accordance with Event Order and break down assigned banquet rooms according to managers instructions
  • Maintain standards of quality and service according to Marcus Hotels and Resorts and Marriott standards
  • Prepare work areas such as coffee stations, bread stations prior to function
  • Service of food and beverages according to Marcus Hotels and Resorts and Marriott standards
  • Handle guest requests or coordinate additional assistance from supervisor or manager
  • Communicate frequently with captains, supervisors and managers
  • Maintain condition and cleanliness of banquet rooms, public areas, and storage areas
