This particular role is a full-time, non-management position located at The Ritz-Carlton property in Portland, Oregon. As a key member of the Food and Beverage team, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting banquet and buffet services by preparing exquisite plate presentations and managing food stations with precision and care. The role demands a high level of attention to detail, culinary skill, and dedication to maintaining the high standards that The Ritz-Carlton is known for. This position requires direct culinary involvement, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and ensuring food quality and safety are consistently met.
The person in this role will be tasked with operating various kitchen equipment, from ovens and grills to fryers and microwaves, to produce delicious and visually appealing dishes. They will also be involved in ingredient preparation activities such as chopping, portioning, and storing food items properly. A significant part of the role involves interaction with guests through carving meats upon request and ensuring that all banquet setups are well-stocked and organized to provide seamless service.
Hygiene and cleanliness are fundamental in this position, with responsibilities including washing and disinfecting kitchen tools, utensils, and work areas to comply with stringent safety and sanitation protocols. The role requires adherence to all company policies, safety standards, as well as maintaining a professional uniform and appearance. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing various motions essential for efficient kitchen operations.

Job Duties
- prepare proper plate and platter presentations for banquets
- set up and operate action stations for banquet or buffet
- carve buffet meats as requested by guests
- support banquet and buffet by ensuring adequate stock of all items
- operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers to prepare foods
- prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food
- wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables
