This position is a full-time, non-management role within the Food and Beverage and Culinary division at The Ritz-Carlton in Portland. The primary responsibility is to prepare banquet dishes and buffet presentations in line with the high standards that define The Ritz-Carlton brand. This role involves organizing and operating banquet and buffet stations, carving buffet meats upon guest requests, and supporting banquet operations to maintain the availability of all products. The position requires proficiency in operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers, as well as skills in ingredient preparation including portioning, chopping, and storage. The role also demands adherence to company safety policies and procedures, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen area, and ensuring proper food quality and presentation standards are met. Employees must uphold a professional appearance and anticipate guest service needs, fostering a team-oriented atmosphere geared toward achieving common goals. Physical demands include standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Job Requirements

- At least 2 years of related work experience
- No supervisory experience required

Job Duties
- Prepare appropriate presentations of dishes and trays for banquets
- Organize and operate banquet and buffet stations
- Carve buffet meats as requested by guests
- Support banquet and buffet operations ensuring adequate product availability
- Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers to prepare dishes
- Prepare ingredients for cooking such as portioning, chopping, and storing
- Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklists
- Prepare cold dishes
- Test dishes to determine proper cooking
- Control food quality during preparation
- Set up and divide workstations
- Serve food in appropriate portions and containers
- Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, utensils, knives, and equipment
- Comply with all safety and company policies and procedures
- Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions to the manager
- Participate in safety training and obtain safety certifications
- Maintain clean and professional appearance
- Protect company property
- Anticipate guest service needs and address them
- Communicate clearly and professionally
- Support team efforts to meet common objectives
