Job Description
The Ritz-Carlton, part of the prestigious Marriott International portfolio, is a globally recognized leader in the luxury hospitality industry. With over 100 award-winning hotels worldwide, The Ritz-Carlton is known for creating unforgettable guest experiences through exceptional service, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence. The company fosters a culture of diversity, inclusion, and empowerment, where every associate is valued for their unique talents and contributions. This dedication to quality and care extends not only to guests but also to the associates, ensuring a fulfilling and supportive work environment. Located at 10 Avenue Of The Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, this position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a world-class team that sets the standard for luxury service on a daily basis.
This full-time, non-management role within the Food and Beverage & Culinary category is centered on banquet and buffet food preparation and presentation, ensuring the highest quality standards consistent with The Ritz-Carlton's "standards of gold." The hourly pay rate is $27.82, reflecting the value placed on skilled culinary professionals who contribute to the overall guest experience. The role involves a wide range of responsibilities, including interpreting Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to determine food presentation, preparing special meals or substitutions as necessary, and creatively crafting decorative food displays. Associates in this role must assist with food distribution during banquets, maintain portion control and food quality, and operate various kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, microwaves, and fryers to prepare dishes to exquisite specifications.
In addition to the food preparation tasks, this position demands collaboration and communication with the kitchen team to indicate when additional support is needed during peak periods. It also involves working collaboratively to keep banquet and buffet supplies adequately stocked and ensuring all presentation trays and dishes meet the company’s quality standards. The role requires a hands-on approach to food preparation, including portioning, chopping, and storing ingredients, as well as preparing cold dishes and operating food stations relevant to banquets and buffets.
Beyond food preparation, the role extends to supporting management with employee training, scheduling, performance evaluations, coaching, motivation, and discipline, although supervisory experience is not mandatory. Employees are expected to set a positive example concerning uniform and personal appearance and adhere strictly to company safety policies and procedures. Reporting accidents, unsafe working conditions, and completing safety certifications are part of the responsibilities. Physical demands include standing, walking, stretching, bending, and moving objects up to 25 pounds independently.
Joining The Ritz-Carlton means becoming part of a culture that values creativity, kindness, and compassion. Associates contribute to the brand's strong reputation by delivering consistent, high-quality service that guests remember long after their stay. Employees are empowered to take pride in their work and enjoy opportunities for growth and development within a supportive global team. The company’s commitment to equal employment opportunity ensures a welcoming environment for all, free from discrimination based on disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics. Those who join The Ritz-Carlton embark on a career where they can genuinely thrive, advancing both their professional skills and personal growth, all while delivering luxury hospitality excellence every day.
