The Banquet Cook position at Mainsail Lodging and Development is an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals who thrive in dynamic and fast-paced kitchen environments. This role is crucial in supporting the hotel's banquet and catering events by preparing a variety of food products that meet the high standards expected by both the property and its guests. The Banquet Cook works alongside the Chef de Cuisine and Banquet Chef to ensure the smooth execution of food preparation and presentation during banquet functions. The position demands strong culinary skills in areas such as cooking, baking, sauce making, and knife handling, coupled with excellent communication abilities and a commitment to teamwork. Candidates should have at least one year of kitchen experience, particularly with banquet programs, and possess the ability to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
This role is not only about food preparation; it emphasizes ownership over one’s work and the ability to provide excellent customer service. The Banquet Cook contributes to every aspect of banquet event food handling, from basic vegetable preparation to minor butchering and bulk cooking. It also involves maintaining kitchen organization, cleanliness, and adhering to food safety standards such as Servsafe certification. Candidates who enjoy working collaboratively and want to build a career in the hospitality food service industry will find this role rewarding and challenging. The company supports growth and offers an inclusive workplace where diverse perspectives are valued.
In addition to the practical culinary tasks, this role requires physical stamina and mental resilience. The Banquet Cook must be able to stand or sit for long periods, lift heavy items, bend frequently, and communicate effectively under pressure. The position involves handling multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining composure and confidentiality. The ability to work long hours as needed and adapt to changing situations with sound judgment is essential.
