This particular role, the Banquet & Catering Chef, is based at the prestigious Sage Lodge nestled along more than a mile of Yellowstone Riverfront in Montana, just 35 minutes from Yellowstone National Park. Sage Lodge embodies the rustic elegance and natural beauty of Paradise Valley and presents a unique blend of Montana’s wilderness with refined hospitality. The lodge offers 50 guest rooms with views of the Montana horizon and amenities including the Fireside Room restaurant and the relaxing Spa at Sage Lodge. It caters to outdoor enthusiasts and guests seeking an immersive wilderness experience complemented by sophisticated accommodations and dining.

As a Banquet & Catering Chef, you will play a pivotal leadership role in managing the culinary team, ensuring the delivery of outstanding food and service in banquet and catering functions. This position is essential to upholding the food quality and service standards that define Sage Lodge and Columbia Hospitality’s esteemed reputation. You will oversee the daily kitchen operations, lead menu development and event planning in conjunction with the Food and Beverage Director, and maintain seamless communication across departments to ensure flawless execution of special and catered events.

The role offers a competitive salary range of $55,000 to $75,000, dependent on experience, with eligibility for incentives and a comprehensive perks package.   • Previous food and wine experience
  • Working knowledge of restaurant equipment
  • Necessary state food handler's license(s)

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the selection, training and performance management of the culinary team
  • Oversees the daily activities of the kitchen
  • Works closely with the Food and Beverage Director in conjunction with special and catered events
  • Attends meetings to discuss upcoming events and review contracts daily
  • Facilitates monthly department meetings
  • Manages division activities through Food and Beverage Team, ensuring guest's expectations are exceeded
  • Maintains efficient operations, and adherence to established safety and quality standards
  • Ensures safe work environment, immediately reporting unsafe conditions or equipment
  • Develops all menus with the approval of the Food and Beverage Director
  • Works with the Food and Beverage Director to develop creative event themes
  • Supports catering and planning with creating events
  • Maintains on-going communication with all departments and ensures all staff members are informed of updates, changes and/or problematic situations
  • Responds to internal and external inquiries and complaints and maintains favorable resident, member, guest and employee relations
  • Protects company assets by establishing and ensuring adherence to security standards
  • Completes monthly food inventories
  • Assures that the team exceeds guest's expectations by being responsive, engaged and following-through on all requests
  • Assures that all administrative tasks related to the position are completed in a timely, accurate and efficient manner
  • Strives to deliver exceptional products and service
