The Banquet Captain role at Oak View Group is pivotal to maintaining the high standards of service and event execution that define the company. This position entails overseeing all aspects of banquet service, ensuring that every event runs smoothly and guests receive an exceptional experience. The Banquet Captain coordinates banquet staff activities, collaborates closely with culinary and event teams, and meticulously monitors service quality to meet or exceed service standards and timelines. Responsibilities include leading pre-event preparations, ensuring availability and proper handling of equipment and supplies, and adapting to dynamic event needs with professionalism. This role is hourly, with pay ranging from $6.00 to $8.00, and is tip eligible, providing an opportunity for additional earnings. Furthermore, part-time employees in this role can benefit from participation in a 401(k) savings plan with employer matching. Job Requirements

High school diploma or GED
three to six months related experience or training
must meet state age requirements for handling alcoholic beverages
strong knowledge of banquet operations and event execution

knowledge of food safety and sanitation

Job Qualifications

strong knowledge of banquet operations, service standards, and event execution
excellent communication and interpersonal skills
ability to coordinate with kitchen staff, event coordinators, and service teams
ability to guide and support staff including conducting pre-shift meetings
detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
ability to evaluate service quality and make real-time adjustments
knowledge of food handling, sanitation, and safety standards
flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
commitment to regular and reliable attendance

Job Duties

Reviews assigned banquet staff functions and banquet menus prior to events
conducts pre-banquet meetings to ensure appearance, hygiene standards, assign stations and review event orders
communicates with Executive Chef, Kitchen Manager, or event coordinator to confirm details and changes
ensures appropriate quantities of china, glassware, silverware, linens, and other items are available
checks room setup and confirms food quantities and timing with Executive Chef
ensures proper handling and storage of equipment after use
conducts random audits during functions to evaluate food and service quality
regularly reviews banquet schedule for changes and special events
incorporates safe work practices
maintains regular and reliable attendance
performs other duties as required
