Job Description
Oak View Group (OVG) stands as a global leader in premium live entertainment infrastructure and services. Established in 2015, OVG has rapidly grown to become a dominant force in the world of live event venues, managing a diverse portfolio of seven world-class owned venues and serving numerous iconic arenas, stadiums, convention centers, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions across four continents. The company is renowned for its end-to-end capabilities that span venue development, venue management, hospitality, and sponsorship sales, positioning it uniquely to deliver unparalleled experiences to fans and guests worldwide.
OVG's commitment to innovation and excellence has transformed the live event landscape, operating at the intersection of technology, entertainment, and hospitality to create memorable, high-quality experiences. Their venues are known not only for hosting world-class sports and music events but also for accommodating trade shows, large catered functions, receptions, religious services, and educational events. This broad influence in different event types makes OVG a dynamic and diverse company to work for.
The Banquet Captain role at Oak View Group is a vital position within the Donald L Tucker Civic Center (DLTCC), an iconic facility featuring a 12,500-seat arena, 34 luxury suites, 476 club seats, and more than 54,000 square feet of meeting and exhibition space. The arena is home to the Florida State University Men’s and Women’s basketball teams and offers a vibrant atmosphere known for its strong home court advantage. The Spotlight Grille, an arena-view restaurant within the facility, further showcases the venue's high-end hospitality offerings.
As a Banquet Captain, the primary responsibility is to coordinate and oversee the execution of banquet functions, ensuring impeccable service delivery and guest satisfaction. This role requires leadership and strong organizational skills to lead the banquet team effectively and ensure all catering needs are met to the highest standards. Prior to events, the Banquet Captain reviews banquet staff functions, coordinates pre-banquet meetings, and communicates with catering managers, executive chefs, and event managers to confirm every detail and make timely adjustments.
The position demands hands-on leadership, as the Banquet Captain ensures the proper availability, handling, and storage of essential banquet equipment such as china, glassware, silverware, linens, and other props. Regular audits during events are performed to evaluate quality and service, guaranteeing food temperature and presentation meet the expected standards. Additionally, the Banquet Captain must troubleshoot front-of-house challenges as they arise and maintain safe work practices throughout all operations.
This is a part-time role offering an hourly wage ranging from $17.00 to $20.00 per hour. It offers valuable benefits such as a 401(k) Savings Plan and 401(k) matching, reflecting OVG’s commitment to supporting its employees' financial wellbeing even in part-time positions. The job requires physical stamina, including frequent standing, walking, lifting heavy objects, and occasional climbing or balancing. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on DLTCC's event schedule is essential.
At Oak View Group, diversity and inclusion are foundational values. OVG strives to foster a workplace where innovation thrives through a diverse team culture that reflects the communities it serves. The company’s employment policies strictly adhere to equal opportunity principles, ensuring a welcoming and respectful environment for all employees and applicants regardless of protected class status. This commitment to inclusivity drives the company’s mission to disrupt and elevate the live entertainment industry continuously.
