The Banquet Captain role at Oak View Group plays a crucial part in ensuring the success of various banquet events by coordinating all banquet service aspects. This position reports directly to the event and culinary leadership teams and is responsible for supervising banquet staff activities to deliver high-quality service and seamless event execution. The Banquet Captain’s duties include conducting pre-event meetings to review banquet details and assignments, collaborating closely with the Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager and event coordinators to align on food service timing and quantities, and validating that equipment and supplies are properly handled and available. This role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal communication to manage team dynamics and fulfill guest expectations consistently.

- 1-2 years of related experience

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 1-2 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- must meet state age requirements for handling alcoholic beverages
- strong knowledge of banquet operations, service standards, and event execution
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to coordinate effectively with kitchen staff, event coordinators, and service teams
- ability to guide and support staff including conducting pre-shift meetings and assigning responsibilities
- detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
- ability to evaluate service quality and make real-time adjustments
- knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, and safety standards

Job Duties
- Review assigned banquet staff functions and banquet menus prior to the scheduled event
- conduct pre-banquet meetings with staff to ensure appearance and hygiene standards are met, assign stations and partners, and review banquet event orders
- communicate with the Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager and event coordinator to ensure all details have been planned and met, and that changes are made timely
- ensure appropriate quantities of china, glassware, silverware, linens, and other items are available and secure requisitions for missing inventory
- check room setup prior to events and confirm food quantities and timing with the Executive Chef
- ensure proper handling and storage of all equipment and supplies after use
- conduct random audits during functions to evaluate food and service quality and make necessary adjustments
- regularly review the banquet schedule for any changes or special events
- incorporate safe work practices in job performance
- perform other duties as required
