The Banquet Captain role at American Golf is crucial for maintaining high standards in the execution of banquet operations. This position involves overseeing the setup, organization, and delivery of banquet services to ensure flawless event execution with a focus on guest satisfaction, safety, and hospitality. The Banquet Captain leads the banquet team, facilitating clear communication and effective teamwork during events. Responsibilities include reviewing banquet event orders, conducting pre-shift briefings, managing room setups, directing service flow, and addressing guest concerns promptly and professionally. This role requires a hands-on leader who ensures that every detail of the event is carefully executed, including compliance with food safety and alcohol service regulations. As a supervisory role, the Banquet Captain is also responsible for training and mentoring banquet staff, managing schedules, monitoring inventory, and maintaining the condition and cleanliness of service areas. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in food and beverage service, catering, or banquet operations

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must meet legal age requirements for alcohol service
  • State-specific certifications where applicable
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable with schedule and inventory management
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills

Job Duties

  • Review banquet event orders or event plans to ensure all setup, timing, and service requirements are understood and executed accurately
  • Lead pre-shift briefings with banquet staff to review event details, roles, timelines, and safety standards
  • Oversee setup of banquet rooms including tables, chairs, linens, décor, service stations, and A/V as required
  • Direct and assist with timely delivery of all meal courses and beverage service, adjusting staffing or process as needed to maintain smooth flow
  • Interact with guests and event hosts to confirm needs are met, resolve issues, and deliver a high-quality hospitality experience
  • Assign duties, manage shift schedules, and support efficient staff deployment throughout each event
  • Train new and existing staff on service etiquette, guest engagement, and operational procedures
  • Foster a positive, professional team environment built on clear communication and accountability
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and equipment condition before, during, and after events
  • Monitor inventory of service equipment, furniture, and supplies
