The Banquet Captain position at Sodexo, stationed at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center, is a full-time role offering a pay rate of $22.00 per hour. This role is vital within the banquet and events team, involving direct on-floor leadership during catered events and banquets. The Banquet Captain coordinates service execution by supervising Banquet Servers and Porters to ensure seamless service aligned with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), timelines, and Sodexo's high service standards. Job Requirements
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of banquet, catering, or food and beverage service experience
- Prior leadership or captain experience in banquet or event settings preferred
- Must be of legal age to serve alcohol under local and state laws
- Valid TIPS, TEAM, or equivalent alcohol-service certification required
- Compliance with state-specific alcohol training requirements
- Food handler certification may be necessary depending on local health regulations
- Ability to frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work varying shifts with open availability preferred
- Punctuality and regular attendance for scheduled shifts
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
- Minimum of 1-3 years of banquet, catering, or food and beverage service experience
- Prior lead or captain experience in a banquet or event environment preferred
- Must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol based on local and state regulations
- Must maintain a valid TIPS, TEAM, or equivalent alcohol-service certification
- Food handler certification may be required based on state or local regulations
Job Duties
- Provide direct, on-floor leadership during banquet and catered events
- Coordinate service execution and direct Banquet Servers and Banquet Porters
- Serve as the primary service lead for assigned events ensuring compliance with Banquet Event Orders, timelines, and service standards
- Participate in event setup, service, and breakdown activities
- Maintain guest satisfaction through clear communication and attention to detail
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, HACCP, and alcohol service policies
- Assist with training and onboarding of banquet service staff
