The Fort Piqua Plaza Banquet Center is a premier event venue located on the fourth floor of the beautifully restored Fort Piqua Plaza Hotel in the heart of downtown Piqua, Ohio. This state-of-the-art facility boasts six uniquely designed rooms, each providing an exquisite setting for a wide variety of occasions including weddings, baby showers, birthday parties, and corporate events. The Banquet Captain role is a vital position within the team ensuring that every event runs smoothly from start to finish. This part-time, hourly, non-exempt position reports directly to the Director of Banquets & Events and requires availability during event hours that could include days, evenings, and weekends. Working in this fast-paced environment demands a service-driven personality focused on delivering exceptional guest experiences. The Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing all banquet operations including the execution of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) for set up, buffet preparation, flawless service during the event, and the subsequent breakdown and clean-up processes. This oversight guarantees that all food and beverage services are provided consistently according to prescribed standards and contractual agreements.

Job Requirements
- High school education or equivalent
- Experience in food and beverage service preferred
- Ability to work day, evening and weekend shifts
- Strong organizational and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform moderate physical work including lifting up to 40 lbs
- Ability to stand, bend, crouch, and perform sustained physical activity
- Ability to read and understand banquet event orders
- Must adhere to safety protocols when using ladders and equipment
- Detail oriented and able to manage multiple priorities
- Positive attitude and ability to work well within a team environment
Job Qualifications
- A passion for impeccable service
- High school education or equivalent
- Thorough knowledge of food and beverage service and operational procedures
- Ability to work daytime, evenings and/or weekends

Job Duties
- Supervise and assist banquet staff as they execute the event from set up, through the event and in the post event tear down periods
- Greet all guests, making them feel welcome and answering questions or concerns as needed
- Ensure that all food and beverages are served according to specifications as prescribed by banquet contract
- Ensure the staff is properly trained and monitored in service techniques and operational procedures
- Maintain a positive promotional environment for our Banquet and Special Event services
- Conduct pre-event meetings prior to each event and relay information pertinent to the day's events
- Be able to read and understand a banquet event order (BEO) and set up room(s) in accordance with the specifications of that BEO
