The Banquet Captain position at The Biltmore Hotel is a critical supervisory role responsible for overseeing banquet service staff throughout the entirety of banquet events. This role demands a high level of organization, leadership, and communication skills to ensure seamless execution of all banquet functions as specified in the Banquet Event Order (BEO). The Banquet Captain is tasked with preparing and supervising all planned banquet activities, ensuring that service staff comply with uniform and conduct standards as outlined in the employee handbook. Coordination with catering, stewarding, and kitchen teams is essential to guarantee the timely and efficient service of meals. The position requires the management of ballroom and meeting room setups according to established standards, and the accurate preparation of banquet checks and daily revenue recaps. Job Requirements
- High school diploma is preferred
- Minimum two years administration experience in an upscale service operation required
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English language
- Spanish fluency is desired
- Must be able to compute accurate mathematical calculations
- Must provide legible communication and directions
- Must perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
- Must prioritize and organize
- Must think clearly, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment
- Must follow directions thoroughly
- Must understand guest’s service needs
- Must work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
- Must work with minimal supervision
- Must maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent resort data

- Must be flexible to work weekends and holidays as required
- Must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 30 pounds without assistance
- Must stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift
- Must reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
- Must use, carry, and operate all necessary office equipment using finger dexterity
- Must communicate with employees, managers, subordinates and guests through verbal communication, hearing ability, and visual acuity
- Must visually look at a computer for extended periods of time
- Must adapt to moderate temperatures in the hotel as thermostat is controlled by hotel environmental systems
- Most work tasks are performed indoors

Job Duties
- Report to work on time in proper uniform
- Prepare, organize and supervise all planned banquet functions in a timely manner
- Ensure service staff is in proper uniform in compliance with The Biltmore Employee Hand Book
- Monitor efficiency, cleanliness and follow up with service standards
- Ensure all ballrooms and meeting rooms are set up according to BEO and Biltmore Standards
- Coordinate timing of the meal service with Stewarding and Kitchen staff
- Communicate with Catering Manager to finalize all details with the event
