The position of Banquet Captain at HHM Hotels is an integral role within the banquet department, offering hourly compensation starting at $6.00. This role involves assisting the leading banquet staff during assigned functions to ensure the event runs smoothly and meets established guest service standards. As Banquet Captain, the successful candidate will set up banquet rooms per the event specifications, serve food and beverages, and help lead other banquet team members under the direction of management. This role requires a responsible and proactive individual who can act as a point of contact for group representatives in the absence of management and who ensures all banquet event orders are precisely followed. The Banquet Captain also plays a crucial role in communication and coordination among banquet staff and other departments such as catering and convention services.

Job Duties

  • Check banquet staff’s event orders to ensure that all information is accurate
  • Set up banquet room as instructed by management, and check room set-up to see that banquet event order directions are completely followed
  • Serve the food and/or beverage in the order and to the expectation of the supervisor to ensure consistency throughout the banquet
  • Replenish beverages and food items as necessary, and check with guests for overall satisfaction
  • Act as point of contact for group representatives when management is not present
  • Communicate all banquet event order changes to catering or convention services office and affected departments
  • Coordinate with banquet colleagues on set-ups, changes and time schedules for all functions
  • Inspect banquet areas at end of function to ensure all equipment is returned to its proper area and all areas are clean
  • Abide by all state, federal and corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages
  • Help with management to ensure that proper liquor controls are in use
  • Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
