The role of Bartender/Server at Sonesta International Hotels is a critical component of the guest experience. Positioned within the Food and Beverage/Banquets department, this role is designed to help the hotel achieve its mission of providing outstanding service. The Bartender/Server is responsible for setting the welcoming tone as they greet guests, take and deliver drink and food orders in a courteous and timely manner in line with the company’s quality standards. The role demands attention to detail, knowledge of the menu, and adherence to safety and sanitation procedures, ensuring guests receive impeccable service in every visit.
This position is part-time, on-call, non-exempt (hourly) employment located at Sonesta Denver Downtown, earning a competitive wage between $16.27 and $17.00 per hour. The role includes responsibilities such as inventory management, cleaning, cash handling, and maintaining the overall bar environment to promote an enjoyable and safe guest experience. The successful candidate will possess a passion for hospitality, an ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and the stamina to work in fast-paced and physically demanding situations.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred
- experience as a bartender required, preferably in a high-volume bar
- food handlers and TIPS certificates required
- must read, write and speak the English language fluently
- ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
- must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for entire shift
- ability to work with minimal supervision
- excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Job Qualifications
- Experience as a bartender required, preferably in a high-volume bar
- experience with computerized cash registers preferred

- previous front facing guest service experience required

Job Duties
- Greet, welcome, and interact with guests in a warm and friendly manner
- take orders, prepare drinks according to recipes and serve all food and beverage requests in the bar
- demonstrate complete knowledge of the food and beverage menu
- prepare the bar for service by ensuring bar supplies, garnishes, utensils are properly set up in accordance with quality standards
- inventory unused liquor and beverages
- ensure that all liquor is properly secured before, during, and at close of shift
- adhere to all cash handling and credit card policies and procedures
- ensure that all drink orders from servers are accurately rung into the P.O.S. system
- clean and reset bar top and tables immediately after guests depart
- complete all closing duties and reports as assigned
- secure all liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets and storage areas
- adhere to established safety and sanitation guidelines
- adhere to uniform and grooming standards
- perform other duties or projects as requested by management
