Job Description

The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) is a renowned culinary college known globally for its excellence in culinary education and hospitality training. With campuses located in California's Napa Valley, including Copia in Napa and Greystone in St. Helena, CA, the CIA offers an immersive learning environment dedicated to cultivating skilled professionals in the food and beverage industry. The school is highly respected for blending traditional culinary techniques with modern practices, preparing students and staff alike for diverse roles within the hospitality sector. As an educational institution with a strong emphasis on experiential learning, the CIA also operates several dining venues where students and professionals collaborate to deliver exceptional dining experiences to a varied clientele. These establishments serve as training grounds where real-world skills are honed under expert supervision.

The Banquet Server/Bartender role at the CIA is a dynamic position central to ensuring that guests receive a positive and memorable experience during events and service hours. This position carries a hiring rate of $26.00 per hour and involves a variety of responsibilities that blend guest service with inventory management and adherence to high operational standards. The role requires the individual to anticipate guest needs, function as a bartender during events, and utilize standardized CIA recipes to maintain consistency and quality in all beverages served. Beyond beverage preparation, the position demands a strong knowledge base of food and beverage products to support exceptional service delivery.

Maintaining control and timing throughout the service station is a critical aspect of this role, ensuring every guest’s experience is seamless and enjoyable. Physical inventory management forms part of the job, including ordering supplies, rotating stock, and keeping the bar area clean and organized. The Banquet Server/Bartender also undertakes side work such as setup and breakdown duties to keep the work environment orderly and well-prepared. This position requires the ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently while sustaining a welcoming, attentive, and professional demeanor throughout each service event. Candidates for this role should be ready to work at both the Copia and Greystone locations and have the physical stamina required for standing extended hours and handling supplies as specified.

Working at the CIA provides the chance to be part of a prestigious institution that values service excellence, teamwork, and continuous learning. For those passionate about hospitality and guest relations, this role offers an excellent stepping stone to further expand skills in a respected culinary and hospitality environment. Applicants interested in joining the CIA team will find themselves in a culture that promotes growth, diversity, and an enthusiastic commitment to quality in every aspect of their work.
