The Banquet Bartender role at Oak View Group demands a commitment to delivering high-quality guest service and maintaining professional standards at all times. This position requires bartenders to handle all beverage-related duties, including serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks while strictly following federal and state regulations regarding responsible alcohol service. Banquet Bartenders play a crucial role in enhancing the overall guest experience at OVG’s venues by offering knowledgeable recommendations about beer, wine, and spirits and efficiently managing beverage orders. Those in this position are expected to maintain a neat, organized workstation and employ excellent interpersonal skills to create a positive and welcoming atmosphere. The ability to de-escalate conflicts and manage challenging guest interactions professionally is essential.

This is a part-time hourly position paying between $20.50 and $23.50 per hour, with tip eligibility. The role involves performing various tasks such as checking guest IDs, communicating service cut-offs, handling cash responsibly, managing inventory, and keeping bar equipment clean and well-maintained. Banquet Bartenders contribute to the seamless execution of live events by ensuring beverage services run smoothly and efficiently.

  • Six months or more experience bartending
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Bartending school preferred
  • MAST certification
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to be self-directed while working in a team-oriented environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and long hours

Job Duties

  • Demonstrate ability to meet the company standard for excellence in guest service, interaction with co-workers, and uniform standards
  • Follow the bar pre-shift notes and bar menus and provide service as described
  • Serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures, including state and federal regulations
  • Learn and suggestively upsell various beer, wines, and spirits to guests
  • Pour drinks responsibly according to company standards for serving size
  • Check guest IDs in accordance with age verification regulations
  • Communicate cut-off to guests as required
  • Listen and respond to customer requests or concerns
  • De-escalate intoxicated guest situations and contact management or security as needed
  • Request additional products or restock as required
  • Maintain the issue bank at the bar
  • Keep a clean and sanitary workstation, ensuring bar equipment is well-maintained
  • Set up and break down bar equipment and assist with organizing the cooler as needed
