The Banquet Bartender position at InterContinental Indianapolis is an exciting opportunity to join a team dedicated to delivering excellence in hospitality. This role involves setting up and preparing the bar area according to event specifications, ensuring cleanliness and adequate stock levels before, during, and after events. The bartender will prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages precisely adhering to standard recipes and portion control, while providing friendly and professional service. Part of the responsibilities also includes monitoring guest alcohol consumption to ensure responsible service, handling transactions correctly, and maintaining accurate inventory control of bar supplies. The job demands physical strength for lifting and moving supplies, a good grasp of basic math and communication skills, and the flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Job Requirements

  • Must be above the minimum age required to serve alcohol
  • Fluent in the local language
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 50lbs, including bending and kneeling
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills
  • Flexibility to work night, weekend, and holiday shifts
  • Compliance with local laws on food handling and alcohol serving
  • Good communication skills
  • Warm and welcoming personality

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a bartender or in a related hospitality role preferred
  • Knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages preparation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Basic math skills for handling cash and measuring drinks
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Set up the bar area according to event specifications, including arranging bottles, glassware, ice, and other necessary supplies
  • Ensure the bar is clean, organized, and well-stocked before, during, and after events
  • Prepare garnishes, mixes, and other drink ingredients
  • Transport bar equipment and supplies to and from event locations
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages accurately and efficiently, following standard recipes and portion control guidelines
  • Provide friendly and professional service to guests, addressing their needs and requests promptly
  • Monitor guest alcohol consumption and ensure responsible alcohol service
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain accurate inventory of bar supplies and report any shortages or discrepancies
  • Restock bar supplies as needed during events
  • Properly store and handle alcoholic beverages
  • Break down the bar area after events, cleaning all surfaces, glassware, and equipment
  • Return bar equipment and supplies to designated storage areas
  • Dispose of trash and recycling properly
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing guest inquiries and concerns professionally
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times
  • Adhere to all local and state liquor laws and regulations, including verifying legal drinking age
  • Follow company policies and procedures regarding alcohol service
