Job Description
Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort is a premier luxury resort located in the beautiful coastal town of Dana Point, California. Known for its stunning seaside views and proximity to renowned Laguna Beach, this Forbes 4-Star and AAA 5-Diamond resort is a beacon of elegance and sophistication. Spanning 175 acres atop a 150-foot seaside bluff, the resort boasts over 400 rooms, 115,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, and eight diverse food and beverage outlets. These include four high-end restaurants, a beach club, a lounge, a marketplace, and in-room dining, all designed to provide guests with an unparalleled hospitality experience. The resort is deeply committed to creating unforgettable experiences for guests, meaningful opportunities for its team, and having a positive impact in the surrounding community. As part of the Waldorf Astoria brand, which is synonymous with luxury and exceptional service, the resort maintains the highest standards in hospitality operations.
The Barback position at the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort is a vital role in maintaining seamless service at the resort's various beverage outlets, particularly within the banquet operations. The Banquet Barback supports bartenders by preparing bar areas for service, ensuring that every guest receives memorable and efficient service. This role focuses on the behind-the-scenes preparation and maintenance that allows the bar team to perform at their best. Typical duties include preparing fresh ingredients such as cutting, slicing, peeling garnishes and fruits, mixing juices, and organizing supplies into designated containers. Essential bar stock including glassware, ice, produce, condiments, and paper products are meticulously maintained in partnership with bartenders to guarantee readiness for any event or daily service. Handling and management of beer kegs and taps are carried out to prevent any interruptions during service, which is crucial during high-volume banquet events. Additionally, the Barback participates actively in inventory management by retrieving orders, checking stock visually, and reconciling inventory against requisitions to maintain accurate supply levels. Cleanliness and organization are paramount; the role includes maintaining the sanitary status of the bar areas, beer lockers, refrigerators, and storage spaces to comply with health, safety, and alcohol regulations. Upholding regulatory standards is a critical responsibility, ensuring adherence to all health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness policies to prioritize guest and team member wellbeing.
Working at Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort offers an enriching environment where the core values of hospitality, integrity, leadership, teamwork, ownership, and urgency are embodied by every team member. Team members benefit from an award-winning workplace culture recognized globally for excellence. Hilton, the parent company, invests in the wellbeing and growth of its employees, offering exceptional perks such as discounted travel through the Go Hilton program, an employee stock purchase plan, paid parental leave, caregiving support, crisis assistance, mental health resources, generous paid time off, and comprehensive health and welfare benefits. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about hospitality and looking to develop their career in a dynamic, luxury hotel environment that prioritizes both guest satisfaction and team member growth.
