The role of Baker I at Deer Valley Resort is a seasonal position dedicated to the artful preparation and presentation of baked goods and pastries. Positioned within a dynamic culinary team, the Baker I plays a crucial role in maintaining Deer Valley's reputation for classic, consistent quality in all food offerings. This position focuses on producing baked products that not only meet high standards of taste and appearance but also adhere to the resort's stringent quality and service protocols. In this capacity, the Baker I assists with various stages of bakery production, meticulously following prep lists as well as designated recipes and procedures. Beyond baking, responsibilities include creatively displaying the finished goods, ensuring that displays remain well-stocked, clean, and orderly. Additionally, the position requires a friendly and courteous attitude toward guests, with a focus on exemplary customer service both in-person and over the phone. Maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment is essential to the role, aligning with Deer Valley’s standards for food safety and quality control. This position also involves working flexible shifts, including early mornings and evenings at all four resort lodges, ensuring that baked goods meet guest expectations throughout the day.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum of 3 months of experience in baking or culinary school
  • ability to work flexible shifts including early mornings and evenings
  • ability to stand for prolonged periods
  • ability to lift and carry heavy items
  • must supply own work shoes and pastry tools
  • excellent customer service skills
  • ability to maintain a clean and sanitary workspace

Job Qualifications

  • minimum of 3 months of experience in baking or culinary school
  • must be able to work a variety of shifts including early morning and evening shifts at all four lodges
  • must provide work shoes French knife and other knives spatulas and pastry tools
  • able to stand for long periods of time
  • able to lift and carry full sheet pans

Job Duties

  • assist in preparing baked goods and other items as needed following the prep list and designated recipes and procedures
  • display baked goods creatively and keep displays well-stocked clean and organized
  • present a courteous attitude to guests going out of the way to offer assistance on the phone or in person
  • maintain a clean safe and sanitary work environment
  • perform other duties as assigned
