This role is with the Culinary Institute of Virginia (CIV), the College of Culinary Arts of ECPI University. The CIV specializes in preparing students for careers in the hospitality and food service industries through several degree programs such as Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry Arts, Culinary Nutrition, and Food Service Management. These programs are designed to reflect the dynamic and diverse nature of the food service industry.
We are seeking a qualified Baking & Pastry professional to join our faculty and help guide the next generation of Culinary Arts students. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator and industry expert to deliver quality, hands-on instruction focused on student success. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in baking and pastry arts, combined with practical teaching skills to produce knowledgeable and skilled graduates ready to enter the hospitality workforce.
Faculty members at CIV are responsible for providing an engaging learning environment that emphasizes practical and active instruction. Utilizing instructional technology and innovative teaching methods is essential to enhance the learning experience and achieve program outcomes. Faculty members assess student academic performance through various assessments and maintain their expertise in the field through ongoing professional development. Participation in university activities and collaboration with colleagues are also integral to this role.

Job Requirements
- Associate's degree in Baking and Pastry Arts or Culinary Arts required
- 3-5 years of industry experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work with a variety of learning styles and skill levels
- Strong time management skills
- Working knowledge of computer applications
- Experience with learning management systems (LMS) preferred
- Teaching experience preferred
Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Baking and Pastry Arts or Culinary Arts required
- Bachelor's degree in Baking and Pastry Arts or Hospitality related field preferred
- 3-5 years of industry experience
- Teaching experience preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Ability to work with a variety of learning styles and skill levels
- Strong time management skills and detail-orientation
- Working knowledge of computer applications and the ability to quickly learn new computer software
- Experience with distance learning or learning management systems (LMS) preferred
Job Duties
