We are seeking a motivated and skilled Backup Department Manager to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring the seamless operation of the department in the absence of the primary department manager. The Backup Department Manager will have a thorough understanding and mastery of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including merchandising practices, maintaining order guides, managing staff scheduling, contributing to departmental profit, promoting people development, and delivering outstanding customer service.
The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership qualities by steering the department effectively during managerial absence, ensuring that all tasks are performed according to company guidelines. This position requires an individual with a friendly, approachable, and outgoing demeanor who works well within a team setting. Additionally, the Backup Department Manager will display sound judgment and decision-making skills necessary to handle daily challenges and opportunities within a retail environment.
Key responsibilities include supervising department activities such as pricing, product display, portion control, and ensuring compliance with food safety, sanitation and safety regulations at local, state, and federal levels. The role involves handling physical demands, such as frequent walking on various surfaces, lifting and carrying heavy objects, and occasional climbing or crawling when necessary. Flexibility to work all shifts and the capability to relocate to another store location are essential aspects of this job.

Job Duties
- welcome serve and assist customers to provide excellent customer service
- ensure proper staffing to address service levels and efficient utilization of labor
- operate equipment according to company guidelines
- effectively communicate with customers and respond to questions and requests in a timely manner
- ensure opening and closing procedures are followed according to the standard operating procedures
- assure storage and code dating SOPs are adhered to for all products
- ensure all price changes and in-store transfers occur in a timely fashion in the department manager's absence
