BAKERY/LEAD CAKE DECORATOR

We are currently seeking a dedicated Bakery Associate to join our team on a part-time basis, responsible for assisting the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals while maintaining the highest quality standards. This role is essential to delivering an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service, helping to create a safe and clean environment that encourages repeat business. The Bakery Associate will engage directly with customers to provide product knowledge, offer samples, prepare bakery items according to specific requests, and ensure proper display and inventory management.

In this role, the Bakery Associate will be expected to demonstrate thorough knowledge of products sold within the bakery department and answer any customer inquiries with enthusiasm and expertise. They will prepare bakery items using proper equipment, maintain food safety compliance, accurately measure and mix ingredients, and expertly package and label merchandise. The Bakery Associate will also monitor product quality by checking sell-by dates and freshness, uphold bakery standards related to case presentation, and contribute ideas to boost sales in the cake and pastry section.

Responsibility for handling cake decorating orders, maintaining inventory related to cake supplies, and communicating with the bakery manager about operational needs will also be key aspects of this position. The associate must adhere to safety programs and procedures, maintain temperature logs for food safety, conduct preventive equipment maintenance checks, and report any incidents or irregularities to store management promptly.

This role suits someone with excellent communication skills, the ability to handle stressful situations calmly, knowledge of basic math, and a current food handler's permit upon employment. Prior experience in bakery or cake decorating and retail knowledge is desirable but not mandatory. The ideal candidate will be customer-focused, detail-oriented, and ready to contribute positively to our team while ensuring compliance with all food safety regulations and company policies.
