The role center around creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service within the bakery department. The ideal candidate will establish and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that encourages customers to return. This role supports the department manager by assisting in achieving sales and profit goals while monitoring quality assurance standards. Job Duties
- Promote trust and respect among associates
- Create a welcoming environment that makes customers feel important and appreciated by answering questions about department products and throughout the store
- Gain and maintain knowledge of bakery products to respond to questions and make suggestions
- Prepare bakery items according to customer requests using proper bakery equipment
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products
- Inform customers of bakery specials
- Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
- Recommend bakery items to customers to meet their needs
- Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines
- Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment
- Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise
- Check product quality for freshness and review sell-by dates
- Operate kitchen equipment including stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, and robot coupe
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
- Report ordering and shipping discrepancies to management
- Maintain a positive attitude
- Understand the store layout and locate products for customers
- Stay current with store advertisements and promotions
- Monitor inventory and note discrepancies
- Adhere to food safety regulations
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and maintain temperature logs
- Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and notify managers of repair needs
- Report customer or employee accidents
- Report safety risks and illegal activities such as robbery, theft, or fraud
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
