The role available is for a Grocery Clerk specializing in the bakery and deli departments. As a Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli), you will be responsible for preparing items according to customer requests using proper bakery equipment and offering product samples to help customers discover new items. You will also inform customers about bakery and deli specials, provide fresh products in correct portion sizes to minimize shrink, and recommend items based on customer preferences and needs.

This position requires adherence to food safety standards and regulations, proper use of bakery and deli equipment including refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens, and other kitchen tools. Additionally, responsibilities include measuring and mixing ingredients according to recipes, packaging and labeling products accurately, maintaining an organized inventory, and ensuring product freshness by monitoring sell-by dates and taking appropriate actions.

The Grocery Clerk will also monitor and maintain appropriate temperature logs for food items, assist in managing inventory discrepancies by reporting to the department manager, and maintain knowledge of current and seasonal promotions to effectively communicate specials to customers. It is essential to foster a welcoming environment by answering questions about products and store layout, promoting trust and respect among associates, and reinforcing safety programs by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions.
