As a Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli), you will be tasked with preparing bakery and deli items according to customer requests using appropriate equipment. You will engage customers by offering product samples to help them discover new items and inform them about current bakery or deli specials, enhancing their shopping experience. Your ability to recommend products and ensure portion accuracy will help in maintaining product freshness and minimizing waste.

This role also involves handling and preparing food according to precise temperature logs and cooking instructions, mixing ingredients based on recipes, and ensuring that all products meet the company’s quality standards. Maintaining product labels, inventory, and ordering accuracy is a key responsibility to support department operations. The clerk should be familiar with equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens, fryers, steamers, and computerized scales to ensure efficient and safe food preparation.

In addition, the Grocery Clerk will be expected to contribute to a positive team environment by encouraging trust and respect among associates, reinforcing safety programs, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying management of any issues. An understanding of store layout and the ability to locate products quickly will support customers and enhance their overall experience.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, have a basic knowledge of math, and be able to obtain a current food handler’s permit after employment. Previous experience in customer service, retail, bakery, or deli settings is highly desirable.
