As a customer-centric organization, Kroger takes pride in fostering diverse teams united by a passion for food and people, all sharing a single purpose: To Feed the Human Spirit. With a rich history of innovation, Kroger constantly strives to create exceptional experiences for customers, communities, and associates alike, placing food and service at the heart of everything it does. The company values respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and the safety of others, cultivating a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone.

The Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) role within Kroger focuses on delivering outstanding customer service by assisting customers with their bakery and deli needs, preparing fresh products, and maintaining excellent quality assurance standards. This position requires the ability to work cohesively with the department manager and fellow associates to achieve sales and profit goals while implementing the Customer 1st strategy through proactive engagement and exceptional service. Employees take pride in offering product knowledge, samples, and recommendations to enrich the shopping experience and ensure customer satisfaction.

In this role, associates ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment that encourages repeat visits by customers. Responsibilities include operating bakery equipment such as refrigerators, slicers, ovens, and fryers; preparing foods according to recipes and safety guidelines; monitoring product freshness and labeling; maintaining inventory and order accuracy; and adhering strictly to food safety regulations. The Grocery Clerk acts as a vital link between Kroger’s values and its customers, promoting trust and respect among colleagues while supporting an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued.

The Kroger Family of Companies provides comprehensive associate benefits that support physical, emotional, and financial well-being, including affordable medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage. Flexible scheduling options are available with paid time off opportunities including holidays and sick pay based on eligibility. Employees have access to free counseling through an Employee Assistance Program, confidential financial coaching, valuable discounts on grocery and other purchases, and up to $21,000 in tuition reimbursement through Kroger’s Continuing Education program. A variety of industry-leading training programs and career pathways empower associates to grow professionally and personally.

Overall, this role is suited for individuals who are caring, purpose-driven, and eager to learn. Whether seeking part-time opportunities or a long-term career path, Kroger offers a dynamic work environment that encourages growth and innovation in the grocery retail industry.
