The Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) position at Kroger plays a vital role in creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintaining a clean, safe environment. This role supports the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals, monitors quality assurance standards, and embraces Kroger’s Customer 1st strategy. By offering product samples, providing fresh bakery and deli items, and informing customers about specials, the Grocery Clerk helps customers discover new products and ensures they receive the correct portions and quality. Duties include using bakery equipment properly, adhering to food safety guidelines, preparing ingredients according to recipes, managing inventory, and supporting a welcoming and respectful environment for both customers and associates. This role requires effective communication skills, basic math knowledge, and the ability to obtain a current food handlers permit. Baker or deli or retail experience is helpful but not mandatory.
