Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products
  • Inform customers of bakery and deli specials
  • Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • Recommend deli or bakery items to customers
  • Use bakery equipment according to company guidelines
  • Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions
  • Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe using kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates
  • Use kitchen equipment such as stove, fryer, steamer, and slicers properly
  • Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
  • Report product ordering and shipping discrepancies
  • Understand store layout to locate products when requested
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • Maintain knowledge of products sold in the department and respond to customer questions
  • Maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs
  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • Create welcoming environment by answering product-related questions
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations
  • Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • Inspect equipment for maintenance needs and report
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents
  • Work cooperatively in high-paced and stressful environment
  • Manage conflict reasonably and nonconfrontationally
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
  • Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Perform essential job functions with or without accommodation
