Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • customer service experience preferred
  • ability to obtain a food handlers permit once employed
  • basic math knowledge
  • effective communication skills
  • availability for flexible scheduling
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • ability to use bakery and deli equipment safely
  • ability to follow food safety guidelines
  • must be able to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation

Job Duties

  • Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • offer product samples to help customers discover new items
  • inform customers of bakery and deli specials
  • provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes
  • recommend deli or bakery items to customers
  • use all bakery equipment according to company guidelines
  • prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions
  • measure and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise
  • check product quality and review sell-by dates
  • label, stock and inventory department merchandise
  • report ordering or shipping discrepancies
  • assist customers with store layout questions
  • stay current with advertisements and promotions
  • maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to customer inquiries
  • maintain inventory and proper cold case temperatures
  • promote trust and respect among associates
  • ensure a welcoming environment by answering questions
  • adhere to food safety regulations
  • comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • perform preventive maintenance on equipment
  • notify management of accidents
  • work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment
  • manage conflicts in a nonconfrontational manner
  • act with honesty and integrity regarding information
  • follow directions and seek assistance when needed
  • provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
