Job Duties

  • Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • offer product samples to help customers discover new items
  • inform customers of bakery and deli specials
  • provide fresh products with correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • recommend deli or bakery items to customers
  • use all bakery equipment according to company guidelines
  • prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions
  • measure, prepare and mix ingredients following recipes
  • adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise
  • check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates
  • properly use kitchen equipment including stove, fryer, steamer, robot coupe
  • label, stock and inventory department merchandise
  • report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager
  • understand the store layout to locate products for customers
  • stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • gain and maintain knowledge of department products to respond to questions and make suggestions
  • maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions and note discrepancies
  • ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs
  • promote trust and respect among associates
  • create an environment that welcomes customers and answers product questions
  • adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • comply with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions
  • practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs needed
