Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper equipment
  • ability to operate refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens, stoves, fryers, steamers, robot coupe, and computerized scales
  • ability to measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • knowledge of food safety regulations and adherence to temperature logs
  • ability to provide excellent customer service and promote sales
  • ability to maintain inventory, perform labeling, stocking, and reporting
  • ability to locate products within the store
  • ability to follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform preventive maintenance tasks

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products
  • inform customers of bakery and deli specials
  • provide customers with fresh products that match their ordered portion size to prevent shrink
  • recommend deli or bakery items to customers to meet their needs
  • use all bakery equipment including refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines
  • prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions
  • measure, prepare, and mix ingredients using various kitchen utensils and equipment
  • package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise effectively
  • check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates
  • properly use kitchen equipment such as stove, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, and computerized scale
  • label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
  • report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager
  • know the store layout to locate products when requested
  • stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements
  • maintain thorough knowledge of products to answer questions and make suggestions
  • monitor inventory and stocking conditions and report discrepancies
  • maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs
  • promote trust and respect among associates
  • create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products
  • adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • conduct preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting needed repairs
