Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in bakery or deli preferred
  • Understanding of food safety standards
  • Ability to use bakery and deli equipment safely
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods
  • Able to lift moderate weights
  • Flexible schedule availability

Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about
  • Inform customers of bakery and deli specials
  • Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customers get desired products
  • Use all bakery equipment according to company guidelines
  • Prepare foods following food temperature logs and cooking instructions
  • Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • Package, label, and inventory ingredients in merchandise
  • Check product quality for freshness and review sell-by dates
  • Use kitchen equipment such as stove, fryer, steamer properly
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
  • Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies
  • Locate products when requested by customers
  • Stay current with present and seasonal ads
  • Maintain knowledge of department products and respond to customer questions
  • Monitor inventory and note discrepancies
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained
  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations
  • Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and report needed repairs
